Medical microdermabrasion

The Derma Genesis system uses medical-grade aluminium oxide crystals to maximise the effectiveness of the exfoliation process.
For reasons of hygiene, at Skin Perfection we always use a disposable tip for each patient to prevent cross-infection.

Medical microdermabrasion

Medical microdermabrasion is a safe, non-surgical, resurfacing procedure that is suitable for all skin types and for treating a range of conditions. The treatment is carried out by a certified professional, using a disposable tip for each patient to prevent cross-infection.

It works well as a stand-alone treatment, but to maximise the results can be combined with other complementary skin treatments. There is no downtime with the procedure, allowing you to resume your normal activities immediately after treatment.

Microdermabrasion is commonly used for reducing or removing the appearance of:

  • fine lines and wrinkles
  • blackheads and white heads
  • acne scars
  • underlying skin congestion
  • sun damage, pigmentation and superficial age spots
  • oily skin and dry or patchy skin.

Your questions answered

How does it work?

Does it hurt?

Microdermabrasion can feel quite scratchy on the face but it does not hurt. Some patients like the fact that they can feel like something is happening and how clean and smooth their skin feels after.

Will my skin be red after and how long for?

Your skin may be slightly red but this usually subsides after a few hours. We apply a hydrating mask which will help with this.

For some patients, the redness is minimal and their skin returns to normal so soon afterwards that they have this procedure in their lunch break.

Can I put make up on straight after the procedure if I need to return to work?

Yes you can, providing it's pure mineral-grade make up. At Skin Perfection we have two medical, mineral-grade make ups that suit all skin types and will cover, heal and protect the skin. This means they are safe to apply after surgery and aesthetic procedures.

Please ask your skin specialist to colour-match you - they will be more than happy to discuss the ranges with you.
