5 Skin Care Tips – Ways To Take Care Of Your Skin In 2017

Whether it’s ageing or sun damaged our skin care tips can make

1. Moisturise (every morning and night)

Hopefully, you already have a regular moisturising routine in place. But if you don’t, this is the first habit to establish as part of your skin care resolution. Start by applying a water-based moisturiser in the morning after you shower. Remember, you should moisturise all of the body (not forgetting your hands and feet!), not just your face. There are specific water-based moisturisers for different parts of the body, so be sure to use the appropriate product. You should also moisturise in the evening just before you go to bed.

Doing this regularly will keep the skin healthy and hydrated, which can help maintain its youthful and vibrant elasticity.

2. Stay Hydrated

Talking of hydration, what you drink can have an impact on the health of your skin. Again, our goal is to help the skin retain moisture. Simply drinking more water can help achieve this. Just have a glass of water with each of your meals, while regularly sipping on a refillable sports bottle throughout the day. This will ensure you and your skin stay hydrated.

There are also drinks that can cause dehydration. Alcohol is the worst offender. By cutting back on your alcoholic units, you’ll make it easier for your body and skin to stay hydrated. Consuming too many cups of tea and coffee can also contribute to dehydration, so ensure you drink these beverages in moderation (two or three cups a day is fine).

3. Increase Vitamin Intake

Nutrition is vital to good skin care, especially your vitamin intake. Vitamins C, D, E and K keep the skin healthy – and by eating a balanced diet, we can ensure we get the appropriate intake of each of them. Eating citrus fruits (oranges, strawberries), greenleaf vegetables (kale, broccoli, spinach), along with nuts and seeds is a great way to cover your bases.

4. Apply Sunscreen

One of the primary causes of the skin ‘ageing’ is exposure to ultraviolet rays from the sun. For this reason, it’s vital that you apply sunscreen when you’re outside and exposed to the sun for a period of time. Don’t let cold temperatures or the British weather deceive you – the skin can still be damaged by sunlight in the winter, so make sure you always have sunscreen with you.

5. Wash & Dry Properly

The last habit to incorporate into your skin care resolution concerns washing and drying. Believe it or not, both the temperature of your shower or bath, along with how you dry your skin, can have a big impact on how it looks and feels. Firstly, ensure the water you wash with isn’t too hot, as this can dehydrate your skin. When it comes to drying, ensure you don’t irritate your skin by rubbing your towel too hard – just gently pat it instead.
